Project Description:

The Riet substation (UW Riet) was commissioned in the early 1970s. The outdoor switchgear is in need of renovation, and spare parts for the hydraulically operated disconnectors and switches are only available in limited quantities. The secondary technology and auxiliary systems of UW Riet have been renewed in the meantime but have already reached the end of their technical service life and must be replaced. To maintain the safe operation of the facility, the aforementioned systems need to be renewed.

Project Objective:

The aim of the project is to renew and disentangle the technology of the substation to maintain safe operation and ensure long-term supply security. The following work is planned as part of this project:

  • The primary and secondary technology of the substation will be completely renewed.
  • A dedicated substation building will be constructed to facilitate system disentanglement.

Planned Project Measures:

  1. New Substation Building: Construction of a new substation building.
  2. Renewal of Primary Technology: Complete renewal of primary technology, including frameworks and foundations. Dismantling of primary equipment and substructures in the "Transformer 21" field.
  3. Renewal and Disentanglement of Secondary Technology: Renewal of secondary technology, including the Station Automation System (SAS) and field control technology.
  4. Renewal of Telecommunication Systems: Renewal and decoupling of telecommunication systems.
  5. Enhancement of Auxiliary Systems: Renewal of auxiliary systems, which will be housed in the new substation building.
  6. Physical Protection: Optimization of the substation's physical protection.
  7. Dismantling of a Transformer  field: Complete dismantling of the Transformer field down to the transformer foundation.
  8. Temporary Overhead Line Bypass: A temporary overhead line bypass is required for the reconstruction of the substation to ensure a safe and controlled renewal process.
  9. Chain Replacement / Renewal of Fittings on Line 1240: Renovations on the towers of line 1240 will be carried out to ensure the long-term secure operation of the network.

Conclusion:

The renewal and disentanglement of UW Riet will establish a modern and future-proof infrastructure that ensures the safe operation of the network in the long term.

In this project, FGS, on behalf of Axpo Grid AG, is responsible for primary technology, development of reconstruction planning, 3D planning and modeling of the primary technology system and overhead line, support for overall project management, preparation of approval documents, preparation of tender documents, and coordination of sub-planner services.
